Living room of Apart Dolomiti with timber roof beams and large windows

Apart Dolomiti is our apartment in Molina di Fiemme, a village of a few hundred people on the floor of the Val di Fiemme in Trentino. It is a working village rather than a resort: the baker opens early, the bus to Cavalese stops around the corner, and in the evening the loudest thing you hear is the Avisio running below the houses.

We did the apartment ourselves and furnished it the way we like to travel: light wood, room to spread out around the table, and nothing in it that feels like a rental.

The apartment

Two floors, two to six people, three beds and one bathroom. Downstairs an open living and dining room with a full kitchen: oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, and a solid table that seats six without anyone sitting on a corner. A staircase leads up to the attic bedroom under the old roof beams, where the skylights let you lie in bed and watch the weather come over the ridge. The bathroom is generous by Alpine standards, with a shower and a bathtub and space to dry gear, and there is a washing machine. The balcony looks out over the trees behind the village and catches the afternoon sun.

Winter

The Alpe Cermis cable car in Cavalese is ten minutes away by car and lifts you from the valley floor to just over 2,000 metres in two stages. Its steep Olimpia slope is where the Tour de Ski has traditionally ended with its final climb. From there the Val di Fiemme-Obereggen area connects into the Dolomiti Superski network: twelve ski areas on a single pass. The Ski Center Latemar above Predazzo and Pampeago is a quarter of an hour away and has the broadest, sunniest intermediate slopes in the valley.

If you prefer your skiing flat and long, the Nordic centre at Lago di Tesero is five minutes from the door. It is floodlit in the evening, it hosted the cross-country events of the 2026 Winter Olympics, and every January it is part of the Marcialonga, the 70-kilometre classic from Moena to Cavalese.

Summer

The cycle path along the Avisio starts below the village and runs almost fifty kilometres up the valley towards Canazei. It is nearly flat, asphalted, and a genuinely good day with children or an e-bike. A branch over the San Lugano pass links to the Adige cycle path towards Bolzano and Trento.

For walking, the Paneveggio nature park is half an hour up the road: the spruce forest that violin makers have taken their resonance wood from for three centuries, the deer enclosure, the lake, and behind it Val Venegia opening straight onto the wall of the Pale di San Martino. Closer to home, the Bombasel lakes above Cavalese are a classic Lagorai walk, and the Avisio itself is run for rafting in early summer while the snowmelt is still in it.
